Besides being a tutorial to help you to use the NEWS 3.0 BURP module, this page also has lots of other examples of some of the things we do at PHPerfect.

Firstly you may notice that the "Broadsheet" banner at the top has, as part of the picture, todays date and an Issue No. that changes every day. This is not text, it's actually part of the picture and it's in a font that no browser carries. This enables you to use that unusual font you've always wanted.

The Headlines under "Breaking Headlines" are also pictures of text created in a similar way, and when you use the NEWS module to edit these or add your own, you'll see these pictures change as well.

When you access BURP, the username and password you use will enable you to add, edit or delete stories for that reporter only. Although as editor you have access to all of them.

The dates (hours minutes ago) were set when you first opened this page, but will record accurate time from now on for both the current stories and new ones that you write.

Have fun
Ed.

Doc Ock Builds Statue of Kali
New York, USA: In a surprise move today, Dr. Otto Octavious known mad would-be dictator and megalomaniac, has given the great city of New York a new public monument; an eighty foot statue of the Goddess Kali.

Civic leaders were unavailable for comment, although this reporter was able to glean sensitive information by pressing his ear against a 14th story window. The Mayor was heard to be 'displeased' with Dr Octavious's addition of two extra arms to the statue of liberty, but felt powerless to do anything about it.

Dispite knowing about the bequest two months in advance the Mayor said that: "forewarned did not necessarily mean four armed."

Superman and Wonder Woman Scandal
Metropolis: Rumors about this dichotomous duo, recently published in many newspapers, have just been confirmed by a spokesman for the Justice League.

In a statement made on the steps of the Baxter Building this morning Mark Disclose said: "We have no comment to make at this time. I'm sure that we are all concerned about recent disclosures and understand the delicacy of the situation. Thank you".

While being tight lipped and cagey about some of the details, by reading between the lines, and taking out every second word of the first sentence, we get the opening message: "We no (know) to at time (atone)" which means that they admit fault.

Now there are 17 words in the next sentence, a prime number. If we only look at the non-prime words (4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15 and 16) we get the clear message: "We all about disclosures, understand delicacy (of the)".

Being all about disclosures obviously means that he wants to tell us everything but has been officially 'gagged', why else would he resort to such a complicated code. Then he tells us to "understand delicacy", what could this mean? Well if the "of" refers to Superman and the "the" refers to Wonder Woman ...

Oh, my God; Superman's pregnant.

Capes: Asset or Hinderance?
Fashion Correspondent: Capes; The word strikes fear into the hearts of most experienced superheroes. Sure, they may look great while you're standing completely still atop some skyscraper at dawn on a warm day with a moderate but constant wind blowing in the right direction, but at any other time they're at best a nuisance, and at worst life-threatening.

It's all very well to talk about unstable molecules and their thermo insulative qualities, but when it comes to being shot or hit with a steel I beam; a cape is just a thin piece of material.

If you try to make it out of somthing thicker, like toweling, or velvet (which can look great in the right conditions) you've got that whole water absorption problem.

Last week etc. etc. etc.
